Underwriting Liaison

The Underwriting Liaison position will be responsible for the process
of new business and renewal proposal generation. Responsible for
reviewing prospects and cases submitted to prepare for submission
to carriers or Managing General Underwriters (MGUs). Provide support
and coordination between all parties involved in the implementation
of new and renewing self funded markets.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Request reporting or necessary information from internal staff in order to complete proposals.
- Review for completeness and submit to MGUs or Stop Loss Carriers.
- Follow up with Account Managers/Benefit Consultants/Broker
Reps/ MGUs and/or Stop Loss Carriers to ensure established
deadlines are met.
- Review rates received from MGUs/Stop Loss Carriers to assure
proposal meets specifications, negotiate if necessary and complete
GBS spreadsheet (large group) for distribution.
- Communicate any contingencies or caveats regarding proposals
released to sales/account management.
- Assist with communication or outstanding needs to assure
smooth implementation/renewal of group.
- Maintain monthly prospect log/files for all quotes.
- Provide monthly reporting to Director, Sales & Underwriting
regarding accomplishments, issues, projects, and status of uncompleted objectives.
- Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- 2-4 years underwriting, new business support or equivalent work
related experience.
- Knowledge in preparing rates/proposals for self funded quotes.
- Strong analytical and math skills and the ability to pay attention
to details.
- Resourceful.
- Ability to be a strong negotiator while maintaining good rapport
with carriers.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to
completion within parameters of instructions given.
- Word processing: Microsoft Office software experience required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
